Celebrate the Holidays at The Yards

Aberdeen and Harford County have many events to help you make your holiday memorable this year. Here are some places and things to do that will make your holiday a little more merry.

Decorate

If your holiday decorations are feeling a little old and worn out, find something shiny, bright and new this year at the Harford Artists Gallery in Bel Air. The “Holidays at the Cottage” sale will be open Thursday through Sunday until Dec. 28 this year. Unique décor from local artists will be available for sale. Inspiration for the holiday season can be found at the Historical Society of Harford County’s open house at the Hays House Museum in Bel Air.

Give

Sharing the holiday cheer with friends and family is easy when so many conveniently-located stores in the area. While the Harford Mall is always one of the best local options for store-bought gifts, there are also plenty of opportunities to find one-of-a-kind presents for everyone on your list. The Aberdeen Fire Department will be hosting the Annual Christmas Street Craft Fair for unique gift-givers. The fair will be held on Rogers Street on Dec. 6 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. in conjunction with the city’s Aberdeen Christmas Street festival. The event will feature a parade at 3 p.m. and tree lighting ceremony in the city.

Celebrate

The holidays wouldn’t be complete without performances and events to spread festive sights and sounds. Many local venues will be throwing holiday parties and celebrations to get you in the mood for the season. The Harford Dance Theatre Company will be performing the Nutcracker at the Amoss Center.  The Harford Ballet Company will also have a performance of the traditional holiday production on Dec. 6 at Edgewood High School in Edgewood. And if the local Aberdeen festival wasn’t enough cheer for you and your family, the annual Christmas Celebration will be held from 2:30 to 5:30 PM on Dec. 7 in downtown Bel Air.

No matter what holiday your family celebrates, there is more than enough local cheer to go around at The Yards.
