Take a Step Back in Time at the Steppingstone Museum

Posted by The Yards at Fieldside Village September 12, 2018

JE Bull founded the Steppingstone Museum many years ago in order to preserve the history of the "last rural generation" in Harford County—that is, the last generation of people who subsisted solely on what they produced themselves. The name "Steppingstone" seemed fitting since the museum was to provide a steppingstone to the past. That's exactly what it does to this day.

Come to the Steppingstone Museum to explore its collection of rural arts and crafts, farming artifacts, and other pieces from the 1880s through the 1920s in Harford County. Start at the apiary (or the honeybee hive), where beekeepers often perform live demonstrations as they extract honey. Meet the critters who live in the barnyard and the chicken coop. Or check out the barn quilt, which represents the Steppingstone Museum as a whole.
